What is Web Hosting
If you want other people to view your web site, you must copy your site to a public server called web server. Even if you can use your own PC as a web server, it is more common to let an Internet Service Provider (ISP) host your site. Web hosts are companies that provide space on a server they own for use by their clients as well as providing Internet connectivity, typically in a data center.
It is on these servers that all your web files are stored, be they HTML files, graphic files, CSS files, Javascripts etc.

When you type a web address into the address bar of your browser and then hit enter, your browser sends out a request to get that web page. The request travels across the internet to the appropriate web server and attempts to locate the web page on that server. If the request is successful ie if web page exists, then that web page will be loaded into your web browser.
